Best Dal Curry recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of lentils; washed en soaked
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of finely chopped ginger
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced in cubes
  • 2 green chillies, sliced
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Spices: a pinch of salt, a pinch of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of tumeric, 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
 

Cooking instructions:

  1. In the olive oil, fry the onion on medium heat in a (stainless steel) stock pot until golden brown.
  2. Stir in all the spices, the garlic and the ginger.
  3. Add dal, tomatoes, green chillies, curry leaves, and 6 cups of water.
  4. Boil on low heat until the dal is smooth and tender. This will take about 30 minutes.
  5. Transfer the dal from the stock pot into a blender and mix well to create a smooth curry.
  6. Put the mixture back in the stockpot and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.
